Odette Michell

There aren't many performers who can boast the ability to silence an otherwise noisy crowd within minutes of beginning their set - however, whether solo or with a band, and having performed for almost seven years on the UK music circuit, Odette Michell seems set to become one of the leading new voices of her generation with a breathtakingly original style - 'a smartly crafted blend of soulful narrative set against a backdrop of haunting folk/pop rhythms' - RealCity Magazine, June 2006

After exchanging the Piano for the Guitar at the tender age of fifteen, Odette began writing and recording her own songs when she was just sixteen years old.

After graduating, Odette took off for the beautiful west coast of Canada with little more than a small backpack and a spirit of adventure. With her last remaining $30 she purchased a guitar and a bicycle, and made a new home for herself in Vancouver, where she spent many happy months delving into the local music scene, as well as joining forces with established Canadian band Barbarash, who she sung with at some of the most established venues across the city of Vancouver.

In the years since she has played solo as well as with various bands up and down the UK, including the Internatonally acclaimed Cambridge Folk Festival Club stage, where she has performed for three years consecutively and been forunate enough to share the stage with musical legends Joan Baez, Eddi Reader and Kathryn Williams.

Although currently unsigned to any record label, Odette has always revelled in her own creative freedom, which is made clear by the fact that she has already covered a respectable number of miles promoting her music, as well as helping to promote the music of her friends in the business.

Odette is currently taking a break in performing to concentrate more on helping young people to step closer towards their own musical goals, and to further other aspects of her career.
